Protecting Property

• Lock all doors and windows when your home is unoccupied. Fit locks on vulnerable windows.
• Make it hard for burglars to enter through your back garden - most enter through the rear of the property

• Use timer switches when you are away on holiday or out after dark
• Never leave door or car keys where they can be seen from the outside or hooked through the letterbox
• Keep tools locked away so they cannot be used by burglars to break into your home
• Use fencing and gates which are difficult to climb with wooden trellising on top
• Fit gates with two strong locks
• Property mark valuables
• Join a Neighbourhood Watch. Homes in Neighbourhood Watch areas are less likely to suffer a break-in
