Protecting Property
- Lock all doors and windows when your home is unoccupied. Fit locks
on vulnerable windows.
- Make it hard for burglars to enter through your back garden - most
enter through the rear of the property
- Use timer switches when you are away on holiday or out after dark
- Never leave door or car keys where they can be seen from the
outside or hooked through the letterbox
- Keep tools locked away so they cannot be used by burglars to break
into your home
- Use fencing and gates which are difficult to climb with wooden
trellising on top
- Fit gates with two strong locks
- Property mark valuables
- Join a Neighbourhood Watch. Homes in Neighbourhood Watch areas are
less likely to suffer a break-in
