Personal Safety

• Plan your journey, avoid walking alone at night, and keep to well-lit main roads
• Avoid short cuts through alleyways or waste ground
• Stay alert - be aware of what's going on around you
• Avoid using your mobile phone in public and keep it out of sight
• Don't wear headphones, as hearing traffic, strangers or potential trouble is severely restricted
• Keep your bag or briefcase where you can see or feel it, either on your lap or between your feet
• Keep your keys separate from anything with your address on it
• Don't leave valuables in your coat pockets if you take it off
• Always keep your drink in sight and never accept drinks from anyone you don't know or cannot trust
