George & Mary Wellington lived with there children at Smokeholes Cottages in Upminster in 1841.
There childrens names were:

  • David (20)
  • Solomon (15)
  • George (13)
  • William (10)
  • Mary (7)
  • Sarah (4)
  • Martha (1)

George and Mary were both born in 1800. Solomon married Sarah Whittaker from Grays 5/10/1850, they were living we think in the Bluehouses in Rainham when all there children were born and there childrens names were:

  • George (1852)
  • William (1850)
  • David (1848)
  • Emma (1845)

Solomons son George married Mary Ann Valentine 25/12/1878 at Witham,Essex. They had twins:

  • Frederick (1885-1963) our grandad
  • Elizabeth (1885)

He also had a second wife named Elizabeth, as far as we know they had no children. The twins were born at Bluehouses in Rainham as well. George died at 36 Sunnings Lane,Upminster. Frederick married Emily Dyster 25/12/1913 they had one son called:

  • George Frederick 1915-1996

George Frederick, was born at Hacton in Hornchurch.  He married Maisie Shaw 30/07/1938 at St.Lawrence's Church in Upminster. They had four children named:

  • Faith (1940)
  • James (1942)
  • Robin (1946)
  • Peter (1949)

Faith, James and Robin were born at Corbets Tey Village and Peter was born in Hornchurch. Peter married Elvira Carol Richards 07/03/1970 at Langton's in Hornchurch.(This is us). We lived with Peter's Mum & Dad for a while and then moved to Sunnings Lane in one of the cottages that his Ancestors had lived in. The cottages were built in 1889 and were called Keelings Row. As far as we know we are actually in the same cottage. We have a son named Barry who was born at Rush Green hospital 16/10/1979.

All the male Wellingtons were farm labourers, but Peter's father George Frederick built the Air-Raid shelters at the Tunnel
Cement Works, he also loaded the cement into the ships for export to Germany. After the 2nd World War he became a Gravedigger at Corbets Tey Cemetary and then went to St.Andrews in Hornchurch where he stayed until he retired after 30 years. Apparently in between these two jobs he was a builders labourer and worked on St.Georges Hospital in Hornchurch.
