The Essex Wildlife Trust ....
- Is a charity that exists to secure a better future for the wildlife and people
of Essex.
- It is the largest organisation of its kind in Essex. We have more than
15,000 members, and manage more than 6,000 acres of land on 90 nature reserves right
across the country.
- Spends £3-4 million per year caring for Essex wildlife and encouraging
others to do the same.
- Has over 1,000 volunteers who give their time and services free to help
support conservation
- Tought over 20,000 children about wildlife at our conservation centres
and in schools last year.
- Has 15 local Trust groups that organise events, raise funds and
distribute Trust literature locally, and help look after the nature reserves.
- Welcomed more than 200,000 visitors last year at our five conservation
centres at Abberton, Fingringhoe, Langdon, Thorndon and tilbury.
- Our members ... are the backbone of the Trust, providing the vlinteers
who are the vital to our operation, acting as ambassadors to spread the conservation
message to others, and helping to fund out activities. (We also receive sponsorship from
business, and grants from public agencies like English Nature.)
IT'S UP TO YOU - If you want an Essex that is
beautiful and healthy environment for people and wildlife, join us and help us keep it
that way.
