When can I join in?

You can start straight away! Our age range is from Birth - 2 1/2 years..

So what can I expect from a TinyTalk Class?

Classes consist of ½ hour singing popular nursery rhymes and action songs with appropriate signs followed by ½ hour social time. This is when the babies can interact with each other and play with toys whilst the adults enjoy a well-earned drink and a chocolate biscuit (or two!). This is the perfect time to clarify any signs you are unsure about or answer any baby signing questions you might have. As well as a chance to meet other mums with babies of similar age too.

Our classes are very informal and friendly so if you need to feed (including Breast Feeding), change a nappy, or move around to keep your baby happy, please feel free to do so.  It may seem a bit overwhelming at first with all the songs and signing, but please do as much or as little is comfortable for both you and your baby. All of the songs and signs are repeated frequently throughout the weeks and you will soon pick them up. Just relax and have fun with your baby. Every three weeks we have a signed story time where we sit on the soft foam mats and I sign a story. This is to show how you can use books, words and pictures to reinforce the signs and language.

So how do we book up for the classes?

TinyTalk Baby Sign Language Classes are prebook only. I'm kindly asking parents to pay for ten classes at £45.00, although the TinyTalk term is 12 weeks. This is to allow flexibility of family life. You then only pay £4.50 for the classes you turn up to after those ten weeks. This is especially useful if you baby is unwell. - you dont lose any money.  If you know of any friends from baby weighing clinic, NCT or other groups you attend, that would be interested in joining with you, Please feel free to bring them along, or ask me for a poster and put it up where you feel it would be of benefit to others. Spaces are limited to give me more time to chat to each family and offer a more professional service. Priority goes to current TinyTalk families and spaces fill quickly.

What can I do to help signing at home or get a head start before I go to my first TinyTalk Class?

If you wish to familiarise yourself with any of the signs before attending TinyTalk Baby Sign Language Classes, We do sell DVD's and Signing Packs with over 150 signs in to get you started. ask me for details.

I'm returning to work soon and my child will be going to Nursery. Do you train nursery staff so they can understand my child?

Yes. Having now been trained in the 'TinyTalk Nursery Training Programme' in July 2008, I am now available to offer Nurseries, Our Wonderful, Informative and Fun TinyTalk Baby Signing Nursery Programme. So staff will be able to understand your child signs, if you have to go back to work and need child care. Please do not hesitate in telling your Nursery all about TinyTalk. As well as linking it with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). It helps facilitate communication and also helps to reduce the frustration many young children and staff feel due to lack of effective communication skills.
